I was awake at dawn and had some time for myself before my day began. As thoughts started pouring, it struck me that what is important in life. Series of thoughts came in, which led me to rethink what really matters in life.

Education

The first thing that came to my mind was that education is important. How much of it? Well, enough to give me a sound and stable status to be acknowledged in society and to help me earn.
But, on second thought, do all those who are educated are knowledgeable and experienced? So, is the qualification per se important or knowledge and experience matter?
Qualifying in one particular field is not an indicator of intelligence and knowledge. Knowledge is infinite and has no boundaries.Learning goes on throughout life, adding to the knowledge of experiences.
Look around, and you will find a new exciting thing to learn always. You will realize that each moment adds something new to our knowledge.
Wealth

Then the wealth comes into my mind. Is it important in life? Of course, I say. With wealth comes the status, and comfortable lifestyle.
To achieve this, we work hard with perseverance and use our wisdom to gain fortune.
But not every hardworking is wealthy and not every wise person is a millionaire. Neither is there any guarantee for every lucky person to stay wealthy forever.
So, earning, sensibly spending, and regular savings is the key to smooth, comfortable sailing in life.
But, is there any limit, or what decides how much wealth is enough? Well, to date, I do not have an exact answer. Do you have an exact reply? All I can think, as of now, is that the regular flow of money which suffices my requirements should work for me.
Necessities

It leads to another thought of what necessities matter in life. The basic necessities like a house, food, and clothing are essential in life for every human. They are the signs of civilization.
Some find it challenging to make ends meet, and some have so much that they don’t know what to do with it. The luxurious lifestyle is a fortune but secondary to the necessities. Hence, first, see to it that your basic requirements are fulfilled.
Relationships

Human is an emotional, social being. Emotional needs of love, care, and trust are important in life. These are achieved by sharing relationships with family, friends, community, and society.
So marriage, kids, extended family, friends, society’s acceptance all come into play.
Is this really important in life?
What about those who are alone or have lost all these? Does their life become insignificant?
No, life goes on, but the overall mental, emotional, and physical growth of a normal human being gets affected. Hence, make the best out of the relationships before they are missed.
Health

As my thoughts got the pace, I realized that sound health is required to achieve and utilize education, wealth, relationships, and necessities.
A healthy mind in a healthy body is important in life. One always wishes to have sound mental and physical health throughout life.
But despite enough wealth and all basic comfort of life, one does not stay healthy forever. It so happens that despite taking all precautions and following all norms, the ailments or aging deteriorate the health status.
So there is no assurance of remaining healthy always. In spite of all the uncertainties, always be hopeful that physical activity, balanced nutritive food, regular health checkups show positive results.
The conclusion

Education, wealth, necessities, relationships, and health are the standard aspects of life; they all matter in life.
It is drawn to me that out of these, some matter in life at a different phase of life. Also, as priorities change, so do the things that matter in life change.
As one ages and gets mature, the priorities change; for a growing child education matters.
Then, as an adult financial stability and getting settled in life through marriage and having a family, being socially active becomes important in life.
Then comes the old age when one prefers to gather all these and sit back and cherish all that is accomplished.
But this does not apply to all in general. Each one of us has a unique perception of what really matters in life. So, there is no thumb rule for what is important in life.
By and large, as long as one is content and at peace with oneself, is what really matters.
I could be in rags or riches, illiterate or scholar, celebrity or anonymous, fitness freak or disable, but if I am not at peace with myself, nothing matters then.
So, whatever we dream or strive to achieve, if it adds to our stress so much that it affects everyday life, then it is not worth it.
Hence be realistic and practical on deciding what is important in life.
I concluded that life is beautiful and worth living. And so in the end what really matters is to live in the present moment.
Everything stays untouched or unachieved unless lived in that moment.
There is no point in living in the gone past and no fun waiting for the uncertain future.
Hence the present moment’s accomplishment and living the present moment is important in life.
