What is the difference between a home and a house?
Home is the house of walls and rooms with a touch of emotions of the people residing in it.

Whether a single person or a joint family or a nuclear family, home management is and has to be done by all.
With the broad thinking of equality and independent living, home management task does not belong to any specific gender. And so the home has to be and can be managed well by a man or a woman.
Also, it does not belong to any specific status of a society. For some, just one room home is the world, and for some, multiple roomed bungalow is the world.
Either the home management is done by own or by any hired person, but it has to be done. There cannot be any excuses.
Here I enumerate a few points which overall may guide you for the essential household management.

Converting a house into a home

Each home needs to have the necessary amenities for an individual or group of people to stay. It includes proper light, air, ventilation, clean water supply, drainage system, easy access for cooking, and storage.
Once the basic amenities are fulfilled, allot space for the family room, kids’ space, couple privacy, and room for parents. It would be the ideal thing for anyone to have in a home, but it’s not possible for everyone.
Hence, when one has an option to look out and plan for a home, try to find such a place where you can relate. Still, whatever space accessible as a home, arrange and manage within that space.
Daily Chores

The key to essential home management is to complete the daily chores on time and efficiently. Keep a list of the routine and add on any new task as and when the situation arises.
Divide the work as per your priorities between the time and helping hands available. Follow the same routine every day. The family members will then get accustomed to the daily chores.
Let’s say you want a day off or go on a vacation. Are the others able to complete the daily chores in your absence?
Keep things at bay

Cleanliness is next to godliness holds real for household management.
Well arranged and sorted things kept in their respective places makes the home look decent and clean. Also, it gives easy access to all the things whenever required.
Regularly sorting out the extras, unused, damaged, nonrequired stuff from home is like gaining space by clearing the cache. It is teamwork, so each member shares the responsibility of maintaining the decorum of the home.
Keep contact details of the plumber, electrician, electronic repair worker, emergency number, approachable friends, and neighbors handy.
Home food

The route to anyone’s heart is through the stomach.
A well-cooked home meal is most hygienic and has an emotional touch. Cooking as per the taste and liking of the family member brings harmony in the home. And so try to develop and share the taste of all family members.
Sharing is caring. The family that eats together stays together.
A happy home is where a common dining area is shared by altogether. Try to imbibe and incorporate the value of food, and it’s non-wastage in the family. It not only saves natural resources but proves financial benefits.
Finances

The homemaker is the Finance minister of the home, deciding the budget every month, for the long term, and emergency. Plan the home budget for the savings and expenses as per the income.
Review the budget from time to time with the kids too. It is the head of the family’s responsibility to provide all basic needs to all family members.
Think of the future and plan – the foresight

Always keep in mind that things change with time, and so do the health and financial responsibilities of the family members. Hence it is advisable to start saving well in advance and work on it.
Have a safe, secured area at home for important documents like contract agreement papers, insurance policies, bank papers, testamentary documents, personal documents like passport, identity proof, and important certificates.
Hospitality

Our home is a welcome place for all. Anyone coming at our home should feel at ease with the warmth of our smile, love, and equality. So do not be biased in greeting anyone by judging their status and social differences.
The children tend to pick up what they see at home. Let them learn good qualities from the elders at home to grow and behave humanly with all.
Bonding and communication

A home is where each family member feels the bond amongst each other and can freely communicate.
Take time to sit together over tea or snack time or before bedtime or over meals. Share your day, the tensions, the targets, the achievements, the fear, the failures, listen to the elders, understand the youngsters’ view.
Plan out vacations and fulfill your social commitments towards the extended family and friends.
Remember, home is just not walls and furniture and amenities. It is and will always be the emotional bond and peace within each self for each other.
Home management is not just getting things done right but also managing people living together in the same home despite their ups and downs.
